Ruidoso is one of the top destinations for New Mexicans and West Texans to get out of town and have some fun. There’s certainly a lot of fun to be had in this exciting city, so where do you start? Let us help you out with three more amazing things to do in Ruidoso:
1. Visit the Rivers and Lakes
Ruidoso is home to some fantastic nature sites, including Two Rivers Park and Grindstone Lake. Two Rivers Park is a huge, expansive slice of nature. It includes the Ruidoso River Trail, which is roughly 1.25 miles of a paved path with beautiful scenery by the river. Meanwhile, Grindstone Lake has a whole system of trails and a well-stocked lake for rainbow trout fishing. You can boat in this lake all year and view a wild range of wildlife. You could see black bears, eagles, elk, and mule deer, just to name a few. There’s even a disc golf course where the New Mexico Disc Golf Champions play. The best part is that you can park, enter, and picnic for free.
2. Check Out the Ruidoso Winter Park
Plan your trip for the winter if you want to go riding down a mountain in a giant tube. This is one of the coolest snowy day trips you can take with your family, and there’s even a zip line for the truly brave. One of the most popular aspects of the Ruidoso Winter Park is the option to rent a VIP igloo. These structures are good for up to six people to shelter between winter activities with hot cocoa, pizza, roasted marshmallows, a VIP hostess, and warm hands. These igloos come with unlimited snow tubing and zip line riding passes for up to six guests.
3. Pillows Funtrackers
The Pillows Funtrackers are ready for summer excitement with go-cart racetracks, miniature golf, bumper cars and bumper boats, a mountain maze, and gemstone panning. For game lovers, there’s a great arcade. For families and friends, you’ll find the perfect setting for large groups and parties (call in advance).
