Lighting of the Tree | 6 p.m. | Plaza Don Luis
Sip hot chocolate and enjoy live entertainment in the plaza in anticipation for the annual lighting of Albuquerque’s largest Christmas Tree. KOB 4 will be broadcasting as Weatherman Steve Stucker hosts, live from Plaza Don Luis, located on Romero Street.
The tradition holds a special meaning for the Aceves family. 2017 marked the tree lighting ceremony’s silver anniversary, and the first since the passing of Henry Aceves, longtime Old Town business owner and the one who, along with his wife Karen, began the tree lighting community tradition.
At Explora, teens can meet a local scientist and find out about their work and career in the FREE Teen Science Café from 5-7 p.m. Snacks and activity or demo included. Visitors of all ages can Make It, Take It DIY LED Mini Luminarias and Chromatography Snowflakes, take a photo on the high wire bike with holiday props and explore the exhibits. Take advantage of holiday discounts at Ideas, the Store at Explora!
