Various cultures around the Earth viewed the heavens and created great stories that have been passed down through the generations. This February, the Amateur Astronomers Group of Alamogordo is hosting a star party that features the constellation, Orion. Some cultures saw a warrior, others saw a great hunter, while others equated it to death and the afterlife. Telescopes reveal a great nebula in Orion, also known as Messier 42, or the Orion Nebula-a place where new generations of stars are currently being born. Come early and dress warmly to hear stories from generations past to current research at our first event of the 2018 season.
