Did You Go to the Southwest Print Fiesta?
September got off to a great start here in New Mexico. There are plenty of exciting September events taking place, and we didn’t want the Southwest Print Fiesta experience to get lost in the shuffle of this month’s activities. The Southwest Print Fiesta started the month of September with an artistic bang by ‘celebrating all things printed.’ This new tradition took place on Labor Day weekend from September 1st to September 3rd. The celebration featured original fine art projects from a variety of southwest sources, displaying the talent of regional artists and allowing them to sell their work. It also gave the community a chance to learn and create!

Southwest Print Fiesta Activities
At this year’s Southwest Print Fiesta, artists not only had an opportunity to show and sell their work, but learn from other artists through artist demos. The Saturday Street Fiesta gave the audience an unforgettable chance to learn from artists who were demonstrating their techniques. The Silver Steamroller Printing event involved a 3,000 pound steamroller creating huge ink prints in the street.

People were also encouraged to use printing techniques to create their own artwork and use the environment to make designs on paper, purses, t-shirts, and more.

Southwest Print Fiesta Discoveries
The Southwest Print Fiesta was also an excellent chance to find affordable art in a variety of mediums. There were woodcuts, clay monoprints, silk screening, and more. There was something for everyone to take home in the form of unique art that is sure to get comments.

The experience of enjoying the art of the southwest community is one to be remembered. These creative and unique prints are priceless mementos of an exciting weekend!
