Experience the West on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad
The Cumbres & Toltec is a National Historic Landmark that travels between New Mexico and Colorado. It was built in 1880 between Chama, New Mexico, and Silverton, Colorado, passing through the Rocky Mountains. It is one of the most amazing and adventurous of experiences that you can have of the west.

What Will You See On the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad?
The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad gives you a unique view of the mountains of the San Juans and the Conejos Valley. You will get to see the historic equipment and buildings of the railroad and a moving side of nature that you might not have encountered before. You’ll get to see much more than mountains and trees, though these sights alone are worth it. You’ll also go through a rock tunnel and around a phantom curve. You’re likely to see plenty of wildlife, and even some spectacular sunsets. There are also a lot of things to do in Chama and Antonio and places to stay if you want to plan a weekend adventure.

When Can You Go on a Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad Trip?
The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad provides multiple opportunities to enjoy a magical adventure on this historic train ride between May 27 and October 22. You can go to Chama or Antonio at 8:30am or 10am by motorcoach, and then enjoy a train ride back, arriving at 5:30 or 6 in the evening for a day trip. If you prefer to do a half day trip, you can enjoy the Cinder Bear Experience or Cumbres Express between Chama and Cumbres between July and August. Yet, many prefer to take advantage of the unique sunset experience by planning a dinner train ride. You can do this on the Sunset Train from Chama to Cumbres on any Saturday between July and October, 5pm to 9pm.

What Does it Cost to Enjoy the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad?
How much you need to put aside for your trip depends on what kind of experience you’re looking for. There are Parlor Car, Deluxe Tourist Car, Coach Car, and Open-Air Gondola Car options. All passengers are welcome to enjoy the Gondola Car during their trip. This includes unobstructed views of the scenery around you, excellent opportunities for amazing sunset photos, and a chance to learn from the guides.

Following are the 2017 prices for the fall schedule on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad:
- Coach Car – $99.75 for adults and $49.75 for children
- Tourist Car – $155.75 for adults and $79.75 for children
- Parlor Car – $195.75 only for adults, 21 years and older

What are the differences in the packages?

The Coach Car is the least expensive, or budget friendly. It has bench seats and fewer amenities.
The Deluxe Tourist Car has extra space and individual seating. It also has more amenities
The Parlor Car is more luxurious and comfortable with personal attendants, It’s lounge style, with panoramic views, the most amenities, and for adults only.
All passengers have access to the Open Air Gondola Car.
