Tony Hillerman is one of my favorite authors! I’ve read all of his books at least once.
I also love Jim Sagel’s Dnacing to Pay the Light Bill, and Stanley Crawford’s Mayordomo.

Although older, Harvey Fergusson’s Conquest of Don Pedro, Grant of Kingdom, and Wolf Song are still the best.
Wind Leaves no Shadow and Caballeros by Ruth Laughlin are great Santa Fe books.
