Eagle Nest State Park Ice Fishing Tournament
About 30 miles from Taos, Eagle Nest State Park surrounds a stunning 2400 acre manmade alpine lake. This lake is popular as an ideal location for boating, fishing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling. One exciting winter event at the park is the annual Ice Fishing Tournament, which will take place on the 26th of this month.
There are four categories in the tournament, Trout/Salmon, Perch, Pike, and Creel, with the option to enter one or more. Registration is between 6 am and 11 am, so you want to be there early and also have your catch measured by 2 pm to avoid disqualification.
Prizes in the Ice Fishing Tournament
There will be many non-cash prizes and cash prizes in the Eagle Nest State Park Ice Fishing Tournament. There are the prizes for first, second, third, and fourth place at 40%, 30%, 20%, and 10% of the total cash prize. Then, there’s a prize for the Biggest Fish in three categories. For creel, there’s a prize for points based on total fish caught.
This is a much loved annual event and something to look forward to. Check out the Eagle Nest State Park Ice Fishing Tournament this year and tell us about your experience!
