We know NM is a pretty special place. The Food, culture, and even the people make it one of the most show-stopping places around! We’ve rounded up 10 celebrities that help make this place super awesome! Or did NM help make them super awesome? You decide!
Demi Moore: Director, Producer
Actress Demi Gene Guynes was born in Roswell, NM in 1962. Demi is known for such classics, such as Ghost, G.I. Jane and (ahem) Striptease.
Neil Patrick Harris: Actor, Singer, Comedian, and Magician
Harris was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and grew up in Ruidoso, New Mexico. He attended La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, graduating in 1991 with honors. Did you catch that he is a Magician too? Yep! I didn’t know that either. He is an award-winning magician and is the President of the Board of Directors of Hollywood’s Magic Castle. Cool!
John Denver: Singer, Songwriter
Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr., was born in Roswell, New Mexico on December 31, 1943. Denver wrote multiple hits, such as Rocky Mountain High and became known as a humanitarian. His family was in the military and moved around a whole lot, but we are gonna claim him!
Julia Roberts: Producer and Actress
Julia Roberts moved to Taos, NM in 1995. A decade later her and her cinematographer husband, Danny Moder purchased over 30 acres of land. Julia Roberts has said Taos is “the harbor to my life.”
Demi Lovato: Singer, Songwriter, and Actress
Lovato was born on August 20, 1992, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She found fame as a child actor for the Disney Channel and later hosted the XX-factor Oh! and what’s up with famous Demi’s from NM?
Val Kilmer: Actor
Val Kilmer once owned a ranch in northern New Mexico and even thought about running for governor. Kilmer is now spreading his wings as an artist and is being represented by a Santa Fe art gallery. He likes to stencil Batman and words like “God” onto stretched canvas. So edgy, Val!
Anna Gunn: Actress
Anna Gunn was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico! She moved around but came back to film that one show…what was it? Oh..yeah! Breaking Bad!
Casey Messer: Actress, TV Host
Casey lived in Alamogordo, New Mexico since the age of 10. She graduate from New Mexico State University with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. Alamogordo is a pretty small town, So let’s high five it for helping produce someone noteworthy!
Holly Holm: Mixed Martial Artist
“The Preachers daughter” was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and grew up in near Bosque Farms. She graduated from Manzano High School in 2000. Holmes claim to fame is being the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion. You guys remember all of that, right?
Austin Trout: Professional Boxer
Austin “No Doubt” Trout graduated from Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, New Mexico. In his professional career, he held the WBA (Regular) super welterweight title from 2011 to 2013. Don’t let Austin’s tough exterior fool you, he’s actually a pretty cool guy.

also Beth Coats 92, and 94 Biathlon Olympian,then turned Professional Mt.bike racer most well rounded world class athletes, could lead 5.12rock climbs on sight and at 30could still do gymnastic moves from her teens…was in a freak tragic accident in 1998,that left her paralyzed from 8th rib down..born and raised in ABQ, says all her athletic acchomplishements and talent and confidence came from Gold Cup Gymnastic school, ran by Ed Burch….was a ski instructer at Santa Fe in 1984-86, then went to WSCin Gunnison where she picked up x-country skiing…stilll lives in Colorado, looking to move to Taos.
