NM Top 10: New Mexico is obsessed with Chile!

New Mexico LOVES chile, we may even be a little obsessed. We will take it red or green and can find almost anything to put it on (green chile Jello, anyone?). Can we just vote to have the chile our state flower? State veggie? Wait..it’s a berry!?
NewMexi.co has compiled our favorite pepper photos, so we can all unify in our love for our favorite food. Let’s take a moment and worship the wonderfulness of the chile.
1. Chile in its natural habitat.

New Mexico Green Chile is so hot it roasts itself!
2. We like em BIG!

The bigger, the better! If you are ever in the Las Cruces area, you can stop by The Big Chile Inn and check out one of the largest chiles in the world.
3. Roasting Season!

Forget pumpkin spice! The best smell of the season is fresh chiles roasting, now if we can only bottle that scent somehow?
4. Christmas Year-Round?!

How bout both? New Mexico is one of the only places that you can talk about Christmas any month of the year! If you don’t know what I mean then you ain’t a New Mexican.
5. Chile Pepper Anything.

Yeah. We love chile so much we put inspired chile appliances and furniture in our homes. If your guests think you are weird for this, send them home where they can stare at normal ceiling fans.
6. We will put chile on anything!

What more do I need to say about this? Red. Chili. Chips. Praise the NM gods for bestowing us with such a gift.
7. The safer “spice.”

You know that feeling. When you are sweating bullets from a spice-induced trip, blissful yet paranoid that others might think you can’t stand the heat. Oh! but you can! Chile peppers have high levels of capsaicin, which makes things spicy. Capsaicin has been proven to work as a topical painkiller, and also forces the brain to release endorphins. I wonder if Mr. Nelson can stand this green chile?
8. Green Chile Cheeseburgers!

Extra green chile, please!
9. We have the best everything.

I don’t care what Colorado thinks. We have the BEST chile and the best sunsets!
10. Home Decor.

Ristras! An arrangement of dried peppers and New Mexico’s trademark decoration. What better way to show your love of chile?

Just to be able to drive through N.M. is an honor! But to eat the food is transportation to heaven. It’s the nectar of the god’s to drink an icy cold Margarita. Ability to see for miles in the clear air and see sunsets that blow your mind is just an added bonus.
As you might guess I lived in N.M. for thirty years and I do miss it greatly. Gosh I almost for got the smell of pinion wood burning.
