Things New Mexicans get!
Things New Mexicans get!
Living in New Mexico presents unique experiences that only fellow New Mexicans can understand. Driving, travelling, hiking, heck! Even dining out offers some memorable and awkward conversations. You might be familiar with our love of documenting these quirky NM perspectives especially with our most recent viral video, North VS South . We regularly make Viral videos, so we compiled a couple of our favorite scenes of Things New Mexicans Get for your reading pleasure! I also threw in a couple of images that I think we can all relate to.
1. It’s December, So I know most of us are pretty happy we don’t have to deal with hot steering wheels. Come Mid-summer, take your oven mitts before you start your car.

2. Nope, not at all. I lived in Alaska for a bit and this was the number one thing I would hear while I was there.

3. I’m not the sporty type, but I hate having to scrape the bottoms of my shoes to get rid of these suckers. They still manage to find their way into the house, though.
4. Our landscape may look like something from a sci-fi movie to visitors, but we are tough New Mexicans, and we aren’t afraid of noth’n!

5. This is our rain dance. Every. Single. Time.
6. Gosh! We LOVE Breaking Bad! Maybe this is a small price to pay for one of the best shows filmed in your city?
7. Even if you don’t live in Roswell, you always get asked if you have seen a UFO. *I have!!*
8. Do we like our food THAT HOT?! The short answer is yes! Although, sometimes our heat will completely kick you in the ass! So be careful!
9. We totally get why we are the land of enchantment. Totally.
10. “Oh, you’re from New Mexico? I bet you’ve never seen snow before!” – This happened the last time I visited relatives in North Carolina….
Can you think of anything else that only New Mexicans get, please leave us a comment!

When i lived back east I used to be asked….How is it you speak such good english without a Mexican accent?

I don’t mean to be a downer, but except the things specific to New Mexico…chilis, Roswell, etc- I live in a place that deals with several of these issues as well- Texas! The hot steering wheels, the nasty burrs on everything, washing your car then it rains…. Now, I do feel like like #2 should be #1! And I wish I lived in New Mexico…only place you can go from desert to mountains in two hours or less…!

Rattlesnakes on a slick kitchen floor. Just sweep them back outside,
